Parametric study of the remediation efficiency of oil-drilling cuttings by ozonation

Abstract By-products and wastes generated by the oil gas industry must be properly managed treated. Oil-drilling cuttings (ODCs) are major during process of oil/gas exploration extraction. ODCsispre-treated in a sonicator mixing it with synthetic seawater pre-specified composition at varying volume ratios, presence anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) various concentrations (0%, 0.2%, 0.5%). The pre-treated solution is placed poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) column where an ozone-rich bubbled through porous diffuser. During ozonation process, number parameters (pressure drop, pH, redox-potential, temperature) monitored on-line, while solid liquid samples collected to detect changes total organic carbon (TOC), chemical oxygen demand (COD) petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH).
